May so far
Hello! Sorry it's been a hot minute, but I got busy basically immediately at the beginning of the month. I've got some sketchbook images and new work to post soon, and I'm always happy to put out a few pages of my side comic project, something very near and dear to my heart (a project with no rules or deadlines, lol).
Last week, I had the pleasure of giving the keynote speech at Boston University's Lavender Graduation Ceremony, a comfortable procession where queer students could celebrate their milestone achievement with their friends and family. That was a joy. I might pull together my remarks from my notes as I did not write them out in full, such is my way. This past weekend, I also tabled at a small local show, the first time I'd done a local convention in about a decade. I'm still unpacking from these two events, but I had an enormously fun time with local comics friends.
Spring is in full bloom in my neighborhood, and I'm having a ball taking pictures of plants for reference later. I want to draw some little kitschy fairy drawings in between comics, and I'm convinced that sort of thing is best served by remarkably close-up photographs of foliage.
I went to Wet Paint, my local art supply shop, picked up some traditional materials, and did some drawing at the coffee shop I used to haunt when I was in college.
Speaking of foliage, my hens are having a great time digging for worms and grubs. We've had a pleasantly raining spring, so leafy plants are huge this year, and the bunnies are not eating all our flowers.
As you can see, Snooki and Nelly are getting along very well, and Snooki is becoming rather large. She still refuses to be corralled by mere mortals, and only the motions of her appetites or the setting of the sun itself can get her to hustle back into the coop. Nelly can still be lured by treats.
