Fortitude
I'd fallen off working on this deck for a while because I have a lot of other projects that need tending. Comics take so long, though, that it's difficult to nail down a sense of satisfaction at any interval, so I have to make sure I'm finding time to remind myself that, actually, I do like drawing.
And this one was a lot of fun! This particular card, called "Strength" typically, is a bit less visually dense than a lot of the other Tarot cards. That's the appeal of some of the more straightforward cards.
I keep forgetting how small these cards are, and I find myself needing to go back in and deepen or thicken the contours of the figures. I'm still using brushes that feel a bit textured and ratty. I love the feeling when the material itself refuses to be perfect.
I also need to remember that I'd originally intended for the palettes of these cards to be very limited in palette per card. It was supposed to simplify the drawing process, but I'm not sure how well it'll work going forward. I really enjoy the way the other cards have turned out so far, though, so I'm sure that can carry me through.
